Research
Research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Data Mining, and Data Analytics, with contributions through international journal and conference publications, as well as book chapters and two Elsevier edited books. Two international patents have been granted in the areas of image processing and computer vision. Engagement in industry consultancy projects has enabled the application of AI techniques to real-world challenges. In addition, collaborative research proposals and interdisciplinary initiatives contribute to bridging academic research with practical impact.

PhD Thesis: A Framework for Color-Texture Segmentation and Characterization of Natural Outdoor Images
An abundance of automated and semi-automated segmentation techniques exists in the literature, catering to a wide range of image analysis and understanding applications. To address this diversity of approaches, a Multi-Faceted Hierarchical Image Segmentation Taxonomy (MFHIST) has been proposed. Additionally, a computationally efficient hybrid color-texture feature integration methodology has been developed for natural color image segmentation. Accurate segmentation combined with texture characterization enables the generation of meaningful knowledge representations, forming the foundation of this framework for objective image interpretation. The proposed framework is expected to be highly useful in the field of computer vision, particularly in scenarios where prior knowledge about the scene is unavailable.
